June 24 -- Surviving the Storm
When bad things happen—those “storms of life” how do we react? Jesus encourages us to approach every situation through the eyes of faith.
Save the Date!! — First Church will be holding our annual Friday Fun Fest community outreach event on Friday, Aug. 24, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Come join us!! Hot dogs, BBQ sandwiches and drinks will be provided free of charge. Visit our ministries/missions information tables and earn an opportunity to win one of many door prizes from local merchants. Kids’ activities will include carnival games, bounce house activities, a visit from the Fire Company & EMS, etc. Annie’s Ice Cream truck will also be available for you to purchase a sweet treat to end your evening.
The 8am service has come to a close with sadness and thanksgiving for all God has done through that service over the last 40 years. In all of life there is birth and death. We rejoice at births and mourn deaths. In families we look for new births to carry us into the future. In faith God talks about doing "new things." In our prayer, our worship, our mutual care and our planning we look for what God's grace and love is doing now. We don't know all that God has in store for us. What we do know is that when we catch up and participate in what God is doing there is always new birth and excitement. Let's look and follow together.
Faith Acts UMW is collecting school supplies for UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief). These will be distributed to needy children across the world. This year sewn school bags are being replaced with 2 gallon plastic bags at least 13” across, big enough to hold the notebooks. UMW will collect these until Sept. 2nd. Please place your donations in the gray bin near the welcome desk. The specific list of what will go into each bag is listed below. UMW thanks you for your generosity and thoughtfulness.
